Singapore

I had an 8 hour layover in Singapore and although I was really tired, I figured I couldn't pass up the opportunity to explore! I got a room at the airport and rested for about 2 hours and then I took a free boat tour on the Singapore river. Amazing.

Singapore is really quite a lovely place to live. It seems to have the best of everything: great food, cosmopolitan atmosphere, cleanliness, nightlife, scenery etc. etc. etc. The ethnic make-up of Singapore is 76% Chinese, 14% Malaysian and about 9% Indian. I had no idea that there were so many Indians in Singapore, go figure. The name, Singa-pore is actually taken from Sanksrit meaning, lion-city.
